About the Bay Area Indies Film Festival
The Bay Area Indies (BAI) Film Festival focuses on new and exciting work by independent filmmakers who have shot at least 30% of their film in the San Francisco Bay Area, which is made up of these nine counties: San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma.
Qualifying films with a 20 minutes or less running time completed on or after January 1, 2021 are eligible for consideration. Participation in other film festivals does not disqualify a work’s eligibility for the BAI Film Festival and there are no premiere requirements. Note that BAI Film Festival Submissions must be entered via the FilmFreeway platform.

The April 2024 Bay Area Indies Film Festival at the Delancey Street Theater was a sellout success, showcasing diverse and unique voices in cinema. The selected films were largely shot and edited in the Bay Area by local production crews and included a range of genres and filmmaking styles. The 2025 Bay Area indies Film Festival will include BAI members' films as well as outside submissions via FilmFreeway.
